Fall River, MA (July 19, 2012) - ACTION, New England’s leading network of cleantech incubators, announced today that it has named Joan Popolo as Program Manager. As ACTION’s Program Manager, Joan will be involved in a variety of operational areas to continue to expand the organization’s programming, partner relationships, and sustainability in support of ACTION’s mission.
Over the past five years, Ms. Popolo has served in various roles with the Ignite Clean Energy business competition and the Cleantech Open, a business accelerator and competition for cleantech startups, most recently as Northeast Recruitment Chair, helping to identify and provide the resources to support the growth of cleantech startups across the region.
Prior to her work with the Cleantech Open, Joan owned and operated J. Popolo Design, a sustainable landscape design and consulting firm with residential, municipal and institutional clients. Formerly, she held the position of Research Scientist at BioTechnica International, an early-stage Cambridge, MA biotechnology company.
Ms. Popolo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture and Plant Science from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Plant Science from Michigan State University. Joan earned a certificate in Landscape Design from the Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study at Harvard.
