With attributed impact, incubator managers are equipped with reliable data to support requests for funding, communications to stakeholders, to attract the best companies, and to provide accountability to Boards of Directors. Dr. Barge will provide insights into the methodology, how to assemble reliable metrics and benchmarks, and examples of results.

with Carol Kraus Lauffer, Business Cluster Development, Portola Valley, CA

Incubator managers spend about 50% of their time seeking funding to support their programs and often pursue the same funding sources year after year. Best practices state that incubators should develop multiple revenue sources, but how can you find new sources when many new players have entered the ecosystem and compete for funds, funders prefer to seed new projects and not support operations, and increasingly, entrepreneurial services and products are available for free?

Sarah Jane Maxted, who has studied the formation of innovation clusters, will facilitate our discussion on this topic. Ms Maxted will provide us with a high level look at what influences successful cluster development and brief us on the recently launched U.S. Cluster Mapping platform.

Conference attendance and exhibiting are a great way to promote your products to potential and current customers. Unfortunately, they can also be a failed investment if you do not prepare and follow-up on new contacts. By planning for a conference, you can ensure it will not simply be a social gathering and create no future opportunities for your business. This session will focus on methods to ensure your business receives the most value from conferences.
Time estimate is 30-40 minutes followed by a Q&A. Attendees may schedule a 1-hour private consultation with marketing/business experts following the presentation.
