UMass Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Announces Phil Adams as New Interim Director

August 1, 2018

ACTION Innovation Network member, UMass Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), has announced Phil Adams as its new Interim Director. Adams began his new position on July 25th, replacing Toby Stapleton. A Southcoast resident, Phil brings 30-plus years of experience in advising, managing and building innovative enterprises.

Prior to his appointment at CIE Adams served as CEO of a Worcester-based energy management software firm, World Energy Solutions, that grew from seven to 130 employees under his leadership and from $250,000 in annual revenue to $40 million, earning him the 2013 Small Business Leader of the Year Award from the Worcester Business Journal. The company is now listed on the NASDAQ.

Located in Fall River, the CIE is the leading technology business incubator on the Southcoast, with 23 resident startups working in the energy, robotics, marine and ocean sectors. It houses UMass Dartmouth laboratories, prototyping shops and conference facilities. The 60,000-square-foot facility is also home to pharmaceutical company, Celldex Therapeutics.

UMass Dartmouth continues to position itself as a leader in the region's marine technology economy and Adams joins the CIE to strengthen the incubator as an engine for innovation-based venture growth and job creation in the Southcoast region.

We welcome Phil in his new leadership role at CIE and look forward to working with him.
